Ikea Cabinet Crown Molding

You can enhance the country look of your kitchen by adding this contoured decorative strip or molding.
Ikea cabinet crown molding. Ikea wall cabinets come in heights of 30 or 39. The cleats act as a brace to keep the molding straight across the cabinets during installation. We used these on ours and i love the look it creates. Can be cut to desired length.
All in all we are super pleased with how it came out. Our crown molding had a profile height of 1 1 4 so we lowered the suspension rail by 1 1 4. Hang the molding across use the cleats to keep it in place. We focused heavily on having drawers and corner units that.
Then set the ikea molding piece in place and nail it to the 2x4. The molding should then be flush with the door when it is closed. Attach a 2x4 to the top of the cabinets so it is flush with the edge of the cabinet not the edge of the door. Attach the cleats on to the cabinets spacing them out evenly.
We used the 39 tall cabinets because that left a decent space between the cabinets and the counter. Hammer the nails into the molding from inside the cabinet to attach the molding to the kitchen cupboards. We went all the way to the ceiling with our cabinets and used the ikea crown molding to tie it all in. Read about the terms in the limited warranty brochure.
Once the side pieces were in place we added an additional board in the top center of the cabinets for the crown molding. If you don t want to pick crown molding or are worried about painting the items to match ikea has what they call deco strips which are essentially pieces of molding and can be used for both crown and base if desired. I like having a few glass fronted cabinets but also lots of closed uppers to maximise storage that might not be so pretty. Screw nail that to the cabinet from the inside top.
We added that board using our finish nailer right through the inside top of the center cabinets. Crown or cove molding can help build your cabinetry up to the ceiling for a fully built in look. Can be used as a decorative strip to hide the lighting units cords and outlets under wall cabinets or as a molding on top of wall cabinets and high cabinets.
